Your finder answers and device storage

The finder processes your selections in your browser. Completed answers are not submitted to a LaptopsSimply recommendation server. Your shopping country is held in session storage to carry your preference between pages during the session; other answers remain in page memory and are cleared on reload. You can clear the country preference below. The URL of a page you open, including any use-category query in that URL, is included in the hosting request.

This site has no customer accounts, newsletter signup or advertising pixels. We use optional Google Analytics only after you accept analytics cookies. Hosting infrastructure may use technical mechanisms necessary for security and delivering the website.

Technical information and hosting

Our hosting providers, including OpenAI Sites and its Cloudflare infrastructure, process technical information such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser details and security events to deliver and protect the site. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable, secure website. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.

Technical information is retained for the period needed to deliver the service, investigate security incidents and meet applicable legal obligations, according to the relevant provider’s retention arrangements. Analytics information, when you consent, is handled separately as described below. Service infrastructure may process information outside the European Economic Area; relevant providers apply their contractual and legal transfer safeguards. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your request.

Optional Google Analytics and cookie choices

If you accept analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 with measurement ID G-XLPZNKBQKT to understand visits, page use and interactions and improve the website. Google processes cookie identifiers, device and browser information and usage events. Our lawful basis for this optional measurement is your consent. Rejecting analytics leaves the site and finder available without loading the Google tag or sending analytics data to Google.

We do not deliberately send your completed finder answers, email correspondence or query-string parameters in our page-view configuration. Google advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google Signals are disabled in the site tag configuration.

Analytics can use first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_XLPZNKBQKT. We configure the tag’s cookie lifetime to 180 days; browsers may shorten it. We also keep your dated accept or reject choice in local storage for up to 180 days so you are not asked on every page. Browser storage is separate from the retention of analytics records in Google Analytics, which follows the property’s settings.

Open Cookie settings in the footer to change or withdraw consent. Withdrawal disables further measurement and clears accessible Google Analytics cookies on this site; it does not automatically erase data collected earlier. Contact us about a data-rights request. Choices apply to this browser and website address.

Google may process information outside the EEA under its applicable transfer arrangements. See Google’s privacy policy and Google’s Analytics cookie information.

Contacting us by email

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you choose to include. Our email service provider processes the correspondence to deliver and store it. We use it to answer your enquiry and manage follow-up, based on our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact the business. Providing it is voluntary, although we need a reply address to respond. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.

We keep correspondence while the enquiry and any related follow-up remain active. Afterwards, we review whether it is needed for an unresolved issue, legal obligation or legal claim and delete it when those purposes no longer apply. We do not add enquiries to a marketing mailing list.

Retailer links and recommendations

Retailer links currently contain no affiliate tracking identifiers. Following a link takes you to a separate business with its own privacy, cookie and sales policies. Retailers receive normal connection information when you visit them; your completed finder answers are not sent to them as a form submission. We will update this notice and our affiliate disclosure before introducing additional tracking or affiliate processing.

The finder applies rules to the preferences you enter; it does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, and you remain free to choose any laptop or retailer.

Your rights

Depending on the processing and the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where consent is used in future, you can withdraw it. Contact info@laptopssimply.com to exercise your rights; we may need proportionate information to verify your identity.

You can also complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission or your relevant local data protection authority. See the Commission’s guidance on privacy information.

Updates

We will revise this notice when our services or data practices change. The date above identifies the current edition.
